At St Mark’s Community School, we are always looking for meaningful ways to promote Student Voice, and our new podcast, Beyond the Bell, is a fantastic example of that in action. Created and hosted by students Jayden and Brooke, and supported by Mr. Dowling, this student-led initiative gives our school community a chance to hear directly from students.
Beyond the Bell is released every two weeks in a seasonal format and features a fun and thoughtful mix of segments: school news, student opinions, interviews, quizzes, and creative challenges. The very first episode is themed around James Joyce and celebrates the launch of our new Seat of Learning, with features like a Joyce inspired challenge, a “Would You Rather,” and a random fact of the week.
Episodes are shared during tutor time and offer a brilliant way to start the week with energy, reflection, and a stronger sense of connection across year groups. It is not just a podcast - it is a platform where students lead, create and contribute to the voice of the school.
